  • Download Blade Pro — Both version for the PC and the Mac can be downloaded at this site. To use Blade Pro with Paint Shop Pro you will need special DLLS which can be downloaded here. Also, Blade Pro has free textures which can be downloaded here. ( I have heard good things about this program but as of this writing I have not used it yet.)

Paint Shop Pro Tutorials and Help Sites

  • Paint Shop Pro (PSP) Users Group — PSP Users Group is run and operated by Charith Carne. Charith is helped by a group of very talented individuals known as Leaders. The group has a message board that is available to communicate your problems, contributions, and anything else related to PSP and graphic web design. Charith runs a Thursday evening study group — which is repeated on Saturday afternoons — where she invites guests from well known software companies as well as others who are directly or indirectly associated with graphics and web design. When we are not entertaining or being entertained by guests we do hands on tutorials which are very informative to get people familiar with the features of PSP. There are many benefits for the members of the group, one of which is discounts on related software and books. No charge for membership. Surf on over, you won't be sorry you did.
  • State of Entrophy — This site was designed to make life easier for people putting together their own personal homepages using Paintshop Pro. Find original backgrounds, bars, bullets, alphabets, as well as links to other great graphics sites. You'll learn how to create your own webgraphics with the easy to follow tutorial and more.
  • State of Entrophy — Make Any Graphic a Puzzle — This tutorial will show you how to take any graphic and give it a puzzle-like appearance. The technique works best with images that have some real size to them, so choose carefully. (Can be done with smaller graphics as well!)
  • GrafoManiac — Paint Shop Pro Nuts & Bolts — Here you can find examples, instructions on how to produce them, and download the Plug-ins and Filters to make them happen.
  • GrafX Design PSP Tutorials — T. Michael Clark — GrafX Design is your one-stop solution for online web graphics tutorials. Besides having tutorials on PSP T. Michael Clark offers professionally written tutorials for Photoshop, Corel DRAW, Paint Shop Pro, animated GIFs, and general web graphics topics. They also offer reviews on some of the products used in the design and creation of professional web sites and digital images. Their tutorials are written by published author T. Michael Clark. Michael has written, and continues to write, on the subject of web graphics and imaging software. Michael's first book, Paint Shop Pro Web Techniques, is available in stores and in online bookstores. (This book is a real winner!)
  • Web Graphics on a Budget — Cutouts (PSP 5) — Detailed instructions with examples of cutout backgrounds, buttons and rules. There is even a list of fonts that can be downloaded to use in the cutout designs. I added this one to this list as it is one of my favorites and so nicely explained here.
  • Blade Pro Tutorial — A beveling plugin that works with Paint Shop Pro and costs $25. You will find a tutorial here that will walk you through the learning process of this fantastic program.
  • Lori's Web Graphics How-To — Lori provides an abundance of techniques and informational sites for the use of Paint Shop Pro 5. (An excellent place to start, continue, or finish!)
  • Realistic Gold and Chrome Test — Easy to follow instructions with corresponding diagram examples.
  • Abstract Dimensions — Your one stop resource to Paint Shop Pro. Whether you're designing a web page or creating graphics for your own pleasure, we've got the tutorial for you!
  • A Fantastic Cutout Text Tutorial — If you're looking for simplicity and elegance, then follow this short tutorial to create great looking cut-out text. (Easy-to-follow directions!)
  • DK1098's Web Graphics — At this Paint Shop Pro 5 tutorial site you will find the tutorials which will reveal all the secrets and techniques that were used to make this fabulous homepage and web site. (Tutorials for a variety of PSP features are easily labeled for quick selection!)
  • Teapot Designs — Learn how to color graphics with PSP 4.12 using textile patterns.
  • GrafoManiac — Create seamless tiles.
  • Hands-On Training by DocOzone — Hands-On training is, of course, the best way to learn just about anything. There's only so far a manual can take you, and then you've got to simply plunge in, and make your own mistakes. However, sometimes a little help ain't bad. (Visit this site and you will get MORE THAN just a little help! DocOzone said it all... if WE continue to help, maybe the net will be a better/prettier place!)
  • Cooltext.com — CoolText.com is a totally free online service which provides real-time generation of graphics customized exactly the way you want them. (A virtual gold mine at your disposal. Need a quick logo, here is the place to go!)

    Neon Text

  • SUMRALL WORKS — Paint Shop Pro Neon Text Tutorial — Quick and easy step-by-step tutorial to produce neon text in all colors.
  • Strok the Mask -- Graphically Challenged Tutorials
  • Abstract Dimensions — Neon Tube Text — Neon tube lighting is everywhere....from the corner drugstore to the boardwalk at the ocean. And it's so easy to create with Paint Shop Pro! The webmaster used PSP 4.12, so we are not sure if it will work the same in PSP5. (But it's sure worth a try!)

    Masks

  • Geoff's Graphics Workshop — What is a Mask? — Geoff explains what a mask is and give's step by step instructions on how to use a mask to produce an embossed 'marble' image.
  • Masks Basic Info & Examples — The webmaster goes on to explain in a questions and answer sort of format.

Paint Shop Pro Books

  • Paint Shop Pro Web Techniques — T. Michael Clark — This book is in full-color with lots of graphic examples. There are over 400 full-color images and it features his easy-to-follow style just like the online tutorials at T. Michael's site GrafX Design Tutorial Site. There are a few surprises for T. Michael's faithful followers of the online PSP tutorials he is so famous for. The book picks up where the tutorials leave off, adding tons of new tutorials, tip and tricks. Here's a quick peek at the Table of Contents.
  • SAM's Teach Yourself Paint Shop Pro in 24 Hours — T. Michael Clark — This is a NEW book just out the middle of September. Between the covers of this book T. Michael Clark will walk you through the program. From the first hour where you'll learn about Paint Shop Pro basics to the 24th, and final hour, where you'll discover some of the advanced animation secrets of Animation Shop, this book will help you get started. More than that, though, it'll give you the confidence to learn how to use this powerful program to its fullest. I just ordered mine from ComputerLiteracy at a discounted price of 20%. ISBN: 0672313626
  • Paint Shop Pro 5 for Windows : Visual QuickStart Guide — Ben Sawyer, Joann Meyer, and Dave Greely — The Paint Shop Pro 5 for Windows: Visual QuickStart Guide will quickly get beginning and experienced users up to speed on the new features of the software, and will show you how to prepare graphics for the Web, process images and convert scans and digital photos, create multimedia presentations, and more. With its numerous screenshots and to-the-point numbered steps, the book quickly teaches the basics of Paint Shop Pro, from navigating and selecting to working with color to using painting and drawing to all new features including the Animation Shop image animator. New users will find it easy to get up and running quickly with the software, while experienced Paint Shop Pro users will find a wealth of tips and new information about the latest version of the software. I just ordered mine from ComputerLiteracy at a discounted price of 20%. ISBN: 0201353628 (I have always found that Peachpit's QuickStart Guides were very helpful and well written! I am not endorsing these books, but just giving my own opinion as to their usefulness for me! I have two of the HTML QuickStart Guides and would not be without them. Because of their size and weight they are easy to travel with for reading while waiting for someone/something or traveling on public transportation!)
