Beit HaChatulim Conservative Jews at Home The Tishrei Holidays are celebrated in the fall of each year. At this time we celebrate a major cycle of holidays. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are probably the best-known and most widely-observed of these holidays, but the entire cycle has a rhythm and flow that we cherish each year. A brief overview of the Tishrei cycle is presented here. (Visit this site, they not only give a wonderful overview of the holidays themselves, but provide a vast number of links to other resource sites that you can visit. This is another find!)
JewishHolidays.com What a wonderful resource this site is. It has everything from soup to nuts as my mother used to say! This is surely worth a visit.
Judaism and Jewish Resources The Internet is rich with Jewish resources. This page shows you the gates to these resources, so that you may go in and explore. (This page is a real find! If you are looking for anything Jewish, go here! Thank you for creating this wonderful resource!)
Searching the Kosher Restaurant Database This site is fantastic. You can search by name of restaurant (if you know it) category of food, location (state, city). (I wish I had found this a couple of months ago when a friend had me do an Internet search for kosher restaurants in Washington, DC!)
Soc. Culture.Jewish Reading List This message is intended to provide the readers of soc.culture.jewish with suggestions for books discussing various Jewish topics, especially the subject of Jewish law and practice. While no book can substitute for a formal course of instruction guided by one's Rabbi, these books are useful as reference material for the knowledgeable, and as an
introduction for the not-yet-knowledgeable about Judaism. Selecting any of the numbered sections will provide an index of that section. (Very interesting and informative listing!)
Shamash: The Jewish Internet Consortium Listing of Shamash Membership. Visit this page to get the correct URL for the member's website. (Lots of Jewish organizations listed here!)
Create a Congregation Web Page (For UAHC Members) The Union of American Hebrew Congregations provides a fill-in-the-blank template form to construct a simple web page for their congregation members. Once the form is filled in and you are satisfied with it, you can request its installation into your UAHC account. (What a wonderful feature for those that do not know how to construct their own webpages. I am truly impressed!)
Project Genesis Global Learning Network Toral On-Line Visit the Global Learning Network, the Internet's leading collection of Torah classes. They offer a wide (and increasing) range
of classes to Jewish seekers across the Internet, ranging from Jewish philosophy, liturgy, ethics and law. Join as many as meet your interests. All classes are free. You can subscribe or
unsubscribe at any time. (What a wonderful opportunity this is to learn at your own pace and free of charge at that! Thank you for making this available to all of us!)
OU.ORG Presents RoshHashanah This site is one of the most comprehensive to include complete history and resources for RoshHashanah. Information can be found quickly as it is displayed in easy to find categories.
OU.ORG Presents Audio Classes for RoshHashanah This site includes Basic Audio Classes which include: an introduction to Rosh Hashanah, Blowing the Shofar, and Paths To Spiritual Growth, A full course of study by Rabbi Y. Haber as well as: Advanced Audio Classes. (The advanced list is too comprehensive to list here. Certainly worth a surf over to take a look!)
